Making a playbook for Civic Tech DC
One of my biggest philosophies is only having structure where structure is needed.
In many volunteer settings, structure can be overbuilt or constraining, but in Civic Tech DC it’s actually missing in the places where people most need it to participate.
Creating a toolkit is about making invisible community knowledge usable. Civic Tech DC already had a decade of trial and error in thinking about how things work but it lived in scattered docs and conversations.
You can see an incredibly messy version of the incubator here. Over time it will be polished and updated, but the reason it’s currently live reflects an equally important philosophy: turning ideas into action.
